Hannah Ross - Revolutions: How Women Changed the World on Two Wheels
In this special english episode I’m talking with Hannah Ross about her book: Revolutions - How Women Changed the World on Two Wheels. The book was released on International Women's Day by the german publisher Mairisch Verlag with the title: „Revolutions. Wie Frauen auf dem Fahrrad die Welt veränderten“.
How radical is riding bikes? Are bicycles freedom-machines? Hannah Ross looks at the history of cycling and highlights extraordinary women cyclists and groups around the world. We talk about the famouse track cyclists from the 19th centuries as well as the Afghan Women’s Team. For many women it seems, cycling was never neutral, but a political act.
